We were really proud of you! You impressed us in many ways, such as sitting up late working on resolutions, managing shower+breakfast + formal dressing in 27 minutes, and willingness to try all food stuffs, such as half a pig, suchi and yummy lunch.

Hello everyone!

Yesterday we arrived at Zaventem airport around 20.00. We were all exhausted and ready for our own beds. The time we have spent in Berlin has been a great experience, and we would like to thank our wonderful teachers, Mikael and Merethe, for showing us Berlin and making the trip even more exiting then BERMUN itself. We would also like to thank everyone who has followed our blog, we hope you enjoyed it!

Last day in Berlin

Hi everyone!

Today is our last day in the city, we have become so fond of. It is a bit sad, because we have had such a great time. 6 days with everything from tourist sights, hard work and to Zacke finding new shoes. What more can we ask fore?

Yesterday we had our last working session. Marte and Alexandra worked within the GA, producing a whole new resolution. A resolution based on the submitted G20 report on economics, trade, environment and aid. Zacke and Johannes continued on there work, perfecting the two resolutions about the question of Palestine and reviewing economic sanctions. At last they where able to pass both resolution, although The Russian Federation almost vetoed the second one. Viktor worked intensely on the layout for the last newspaper. He also printed some extra lunch tickets, so he could get extra subway sandwiches. The first good lunch we had all week. The working part of the day, ended with a very nice closing ceremony. The leaders of each committee held speeches on how the lobbying days had gone. Zackes socks got mention, they really set a mark on this years BERMUN. Zacke you should be proud!

Before leaving for the BERMUN dance, we took the time to eat some "massivt" good burgers.

The dance was a nice ending to it all. Loud music, nice people and allot of smiles, made it even better.

Now we are about to leave the cafe we have been sitting at the last half hour, ready for our last stop, before heading towards the airport.

We would also like to say that this week have been a great experience. We have made new friends, learned allot of new things about the topics on this years BERMUN and how the GA really works.

Good evening SSB!

Today we got up at 7:20. Jealous at Viktors soft start at 10 we had the lights on and slammed the doors the best we could.
I was surprised to find Zach at the Breakfast when i arrived, i guess he has learned by yesterday's delay.

The agenda for today was to discuss the question of Palestine in the Security Council, as well as listening to a former Israeli diplomat's reply to yesterday's speech in favor of Palestine. It was Rock 'N' Roll all day, and the council quickly ran out of cookies. In the Economical and Political committee Alexandra and Marthe did really well, and passed their respective resolutions. Due to spending a lot of time on amendments and reformulations we in the Security council only had the time to pass half of the clauses.

Viktor also had a lot of work to to in the press team, making the layout of today's "Bear Mun" - the BERMUN newspaper.

Tonight we are planning on a Turkish dinner in Kreuzberg.

Good evening everyone!

Today we woke up early (exept Zack attack who over-slept) and headed off to the John F. Kennedy school to join the opening of the GA. The opening was beautifully set up of inspiring speeches by Professor Dr. Peter Eigen (Founder of Transparency International) and Greg Delawie (First Secretary of the US Embassy in Berlin). The speeches was followed by a question and answer session, where many curious delegates asked questions on our topic on this years BERMUN 2009, Global Ethics: Rules for Global Welfare.

After the opening, we were splitted into our committees, where I as a delegate representing Turkey in the Environment Committee discussed the questions concerning ensuring ecological sustainability in times of economic crises. After six hours of debating, the session had come to an end, and I could happily join the others. Alexandra had been working in the Political Committe, and John and Zack had been debating in the Security Council.

Gossip of the day: The Madame President kindly commented on Zack-attack´s orange-blue striped socks, where she deeply suggested that he should change his socks for tomorrow. Zack proudly answered: "Off course I always change my socks in the morning, don´t you?". Madame President smiled and then walked away. He then received a note where she claimed his socks as VERY informal. Zack has already planned his outfit for tomorrow: his stylish suit with a colorful scarf and pink-white striped socks. We looking forward with anticipation to hear Madame President´s comments on Zack´s outfit.

Day in the press team

Hello everyone

After a long hard day I am now sitting at Starbucks. Started with getting up 6:45 this morning, had to be at the JFK school at 8:30. as I am part of the layout team, my real work can not begin before all of the pictures and articles are handed in. These were due 13:00. The last one came in at around 16:30. Our deadline for the whole newspaper was 18:00, but after recieving the last article it was changed to 20:00. Me and the three other members of the layout team could finish at around 19:30, just a few hours to late. On the bright side, I dont have to be at JFK as early tomorrow. Not before 9:30 in fact. Heading off to grab some dinner with the rest of the bermun team now.

After a long day we have finally settled at Starbucks here in our Berliner suburb. Our delegates have been working hard and on top I have constantly harassed them with questions like "what was Steuffenberg´s first name", "when was the Siegessaule erected" or "mention at least three participants at the Wannsee Conference". They are though working hard in their respective committees and they have shown that they will be excellent planners of next years SSB-mun.

I do also have a few assignments myself apart from visiting the workshops. Tomorrow for instance, I will have lunch duty which means barking at delegates who have forgotten their red lunch passes.... and I will be very strict... I mean, after all we are in Germany! I have also merged with some Turkish teachers in order to try to get some useful information for our delegation, but they do not give away classified intelligence material for free - I have to bribe them with coffee and cookies, but I guess that is life in a tuff diplomatic environment.

Wednesday in Berlin

Good evening,
Me and my dear fellow delegate Marte are back at our lovley hostel: HAPPYbed! And we are very happy.

We have just finished a marvelous Thai-dinner here in Berlin.

This has been an eventful day indeed! After an early morning and a cold shower we grabbed a quick breakfast. Then we headed for the John F Kennedy School were we handed in our registration for the BERMUN. After that we left our youngest member of the team at a Subway's restaurant. He will be working with the press team this entire week.

The rest of us explored Berlin. We ate a typical German Crepe with Nutella. Then we walked all the way to Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung were the formal opening of the General Assembly took place. The rest of the day we spent listening to opening speeches of various quality and we also listened to some esteemed Guest-speakers. Every now and then they served delicious sandwiches and cookies. That was nice.

Proudly we can say that Alexandra, our honourable Ambassador made a terrific performance when she yielded the floor. You go girl!

Me and Johannes (or "John" as he keeps calling himself) entered the Security Council for a formal greeting and opening discussions. It was very interesting and rewarding to argue with some of the sharpest teenagers from the entire world.

After the reception, which of course included more delicious free food, we took the bus to Starbuck's.

Now we have challenged the Turks representing Poland on a tournament of snooker and table tennis.

Hello SSB!

the Republic of Turkey has landed in Berlin.

After an intense session of GI-Joe on the airplane, we set off for the Nordic Embassies where we met first secretary Mr. Andreas von Beckerath. Where we had an interesting discussion regarding Turkish relations to the EU. Then we went to the Reichstag and walked around the dome, after that we visited the Memorial over the murdered Jews during WWII. In the evening we paid a visit to the Haus am Checkpoint Charlie. The dinner of the Turkish delegation? Ein PØKELEISBEIN!.

Tired after the exiting day, we didn't even finish our film.
